Sustainability and Ethics

At Friday Couture, we are dedicated to providing a sustainable and ethical solution in the fashion world by sourcing products from responsible companies.

Sustainability

As of 2023, Friday Couture operates primarily as a print-on-demand (POD) business, relying on the services of Printful and Printify. This model is sustainable because it produces items only after a customer places an order, significantly reducing overproduction and waste. By eliminating the need for large inventories, POD minimizes excess stock and its environmental impact, helping to prevent unsold products from ending up in landfills.

Printful

Printful not only offers a sustainable print-on-demand model but also upholds strong ethical labor standards, as outlined in their Code of Conduct. Key features include:

  • Zero Tolerance for Forced Labor: Printful explicitly prohibits forced labor, child labor, and discrimination within its supply chain, ensuring that all employees and third-party workers are treated with respect and dignity.

  • Fair Working Conditions: Printful partners exclusively with suppliers who comply with internationally recognized labor standards, providing fair wages, reasonable working hours, and safe working environments.

  • Sustainable Product Choices: Printful continues to expand its range of eco-friendly products, including items made from organic cotton and recycled materials, and uses water-based, non-toxic inks in production.

Printify

While Printify actively promotes sustainability through its print-on-demand model, it does not explicitly detail its commitment to ethical labor conditions. For this reason, Friday Couture is committed to thoroughly vetting all products and brands sourced through Printify to fulfill our promise of providing sustainable and ethical products.

Gildan is the primary brand that Friday Couture sources through Printify's services. As a vertically integrated apparel manufacturer, Gildan controls most aspects of its supply chain—from cotton farms to the final product. This allows them to ensure ethical working conditions and environmental responsibility at every step. Gildan’s key eco-friendly initiatives include:

  • Sustainable Cotton Sourcing: Gildan is committed to sourcing 100% of its cotton from third-party verified sustainable sources by 2025. They partner with organizations like the U.S. Cotton Trust Protocol and the Better Cotton Initiative to promote responsible cotton farming, reducing their environmental footprint and supporting fair labor standards.

  • Ethical Labor Practices: With factories in several countries, Gildan upholds rigorous labor standards, providing fair wages, safe working conditions, and respect for workers' rights while avoiding materials sourced from regions linked to forced labor.

  • Eco-Friendly Manufacturing: Gildan implements energy-efficient technologies and water conservation practices, significantly reducing its environmental impact through recycling and waste minimization.

At Friday Couture, we strive to make the world a better place through ethical and sustainable solutions while also creating thoughtfully designed apparel that brings joy, inspires creativity, and empowers you to live your dream life.
